My name is Lucia and my story began about 2 years ago
“I have type 2 diabetes and am also obese. I was always limited in what I was able to do and because of that I was always nervous; I felt tired, I always wanted to sleep, and when I was awake I wanted to eat.
One day I told myself – that’s enough! and I decided that I had to do something to change my life. I simply couldn’t stand myself anymore.
I went to the department for obesity at the Policlinico Gemelli of Roma, and met a great team there. After doing some tests, the doctor informed me of an investigational device called the TANTALUS [DIAMOND]. I was a bit hesitant at first, but my desire to finally change my life motivated me to receive the treatment.
After the procedure I had to learn to eat the right way and with moderation. I must admit it wasn’t easy, but today, I’m very happy. I keep doing what I used to do before, even my job that is a very hard one.
After 8 months I lost 35kg, I saw my body change and as a consequence and I was feeling well, I was happy and my life was changing. Finally, I was also able to stop taking by diabetes pills.
Now, 2 years later, I’m feeling very well, I like myself, and can enjoy going shopping. Sometimes I still wonder how I was able to do it and the only thing I’m sure of is that I was never alone. I must thank the Professor and her team for supporting me all the way through.”
