The MetaCure TANTALUS System uses the novel approach of electrical neuro-modulation to deliver a unique, non-excitatory stimulation to the gastric muscle through implantable electrodes. The stimulation effect is generated not by disruption of inherent gastric activity but rather by modulating the activity of a naturally occurring (or paced) contraction. The stimulation is applied to the stomach in order to affect its mechanical, endocrine and neural functions.
